Democratic Reform

Transparent party funding, proportional representation, and citizen assemblies with binding agenda power.

The issue

Turnout decline tracks the narrowing of what elections can decide. Where major economic questions are placed beyond the reach of a vote, participation falls.

Our position

Democratic reform must expand the scope of decisions subject to a vote, not only the mechanics of voting itself.

Proposed policies

  • Proportional representation with open lists.
  • A hard cap on political donations and full real-time disclosure.
  • Citizen assemblies with the power to place items on the legislative agenda.
  • Lowering the voting age to 16.
